Blue Wonderland by Stephen Simmons

Features

ARTIST NOTES: The idea for this painting came from 2 areas. Firstly, on a recent trip to the beautiful country town of Benalla, in Victoria I walked the sunlit path beside a local river, and I was captivated by the beauty and natural light filtering through the trees. Secondly, as a big fan of Tim Burton, I loved his version of Alice in Wonderland and for some reason the color blue seemed appropriate for this painting. ARTIST BIO

I am a self-taught painter of dubious talent. I became serious with my painting around 20 years ago and I’ve worked hard to improve my work. I have struggled in my time but I have taken my inspiration from artist’s far more talented than me who struggled through far more adversity than myself and just kept on painting.

\r\n

I’m always looking to capture the soul of whatever I paint, that something that connects me with the picture. It doesn’t matter what the scene is: landscape, people, an object, as long as I’ve captured that invisible quality that made me want to paint it in the first place.

\r\n

I have painted many different mediums such as, charcoal, water based paints, and acrylics. I love to paint with oils now and I\'m always looking for something new to paint.

\r\n

I’m a big fan of Impressionism and you will see this influence in many of my works.

\r\n

I\'m currently working on a number of paintings I hope to have finished soon. I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I have creating them.
