ARTIST BIO

Bio: Tonia Ramus

Syney born Tonia has lived in Kuala Lumphur, Sydney and Melbourne and travelled throughout Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and England. As a self taught artist she has explored pencil drawing, oils, water colours, batik and pastels.

Tonia's work has always been a reflection of the diversity of  texture, colour, line and shape of nature.  The absolute beauty of simple scenes and objects, the variety created by differing light and the unexplored variety of nature itself have been her passion for many years. Currently working in pastels and watercolours, Tonia contues to explore the medium itself and subject opportunities.

Tonia currently has work exhibited at "Angelsea Art House", held a solo exhibition in Balnaring in  2012 and has participated in  community exhibitions in Ascot Vale, Flemington  where she won a people's choice prize. Further exhibitions included Williamstown, Angelsea, Drysedale and Ocean Grove.

" There is beauty everywhere if you only choose to see it. "

I have explored a variety of mediums over the years including water colours which I studied under Edwin Booker and batik which I studied in Malaysia with Zizi of Zizi Designs (Designer to the Royal Family ). More recently I developed a special affinity for soft pastels. Exploring different mediums has provided good opportunities to express my love of Nature.

"To me nature is inspirational and uplifting. Expressing and sharing this magical feeling is the purpose of my work."
